Our History
Richard Vallow started a carpet installation service in 1964
which operated out of his home and catered to small
retailers in the area. In 1974 Mr. Vallow introduced carpet
sales out of his home; at the same time Mark Vallow and Seth
Renken were assisting with flooring installations. In the
fall of 1981, the three along with Rich’s wife Beverly
Vallow opened a retail store front at 500 E. Vandalia Street
in Edwardsville, IL. Over the next decade, the company
was fortunate enough to double the number of its
employees and converted existing warehouse space to more display areas. An additional warehouse extension was
constructed in 1985 as well as an expansion for more showroom space in 1991. To keep up with the fast pace growth
of the community and the ever changing flooring industry, a
wholesale flooring outlet was introduced in 1999 at 456 E.
Vandalia Street just across the street from Vallows' main
store. This new annex provided more stocking capability and
catered more toward the small contractor and do-it-yourself
homeowner. In 2006 Vallow Floor Coverings relocated with
the opening of a new full service flooring center combining
remodel and new construction for residential and commercial
all under one roof. This facility, our present location just
off highway 157 South near Center Grove Rd., gives customers
numerous choices of styles, qualities, textures and colors
with every budget in mind from the 15,000 sq. ft. design
center and wholesale carpet and flooring outlet. An experienced and
knowledgeable staff is always ready to assist customers with
any flooring project they may have.
Today, Vallow Floor Coverings, Inc. is one of the largest
single family owned & operated floor covering retailers in the greater St. Louis
metro-east region. We can offer our customers a huge
selection from a diverse line of floor coverings as well as
guaranteed professional installation. “Floor coverings”
include carpeting, ceramic tile, natural stone and marble
tile, hardwoods, sheet vinyl, vinyl tile, laminate products,
custom area rugs, and more. For 44 years Vallow Floor
Coverings, Inc. has always taken great pride in giving
personal attention and service to all of our customers
starting with the selection process through final
installation. Just as Mr. Vallow started the family business
in 1964, we are constantly looking for ways to improve with
